Helena Juntunen
Helena Juntunen is currently one of Finlands most dazzling young international sopranos. The role of Marguerite in Gounods Faust at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in 2002 can be considered as her professional breakthrough. Roles like Mimi (La Boheme), Jenny Hill (Mahagonny), Salome, Madama Butterfly, Pamina, Donna Elvira, Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Marie/Marietta (Die Tote Stadt), Tatjana (Eugene Onegin), Marie (Wozzeck) and most recently Káta Kabanová have taken her to operahouses around the world. Juntunen has performed in more than ten Finnish worldpremiere operas. She is also proud to perform Sibelius and contemporary music. Juntunen’s recent concert highlights include Luonnotar of Sibelius in Sydney and London. In 2022 she will perform Senta (Flying Dutchman) in Austria and Aida at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. She has collaborated with many famous orchestras around the world and conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Leif Segerstam, John Storgårds, Vladimir Jurowski, Xian Zhang and Sir Colin Davis. Helena Juntunen has recorded with the BIS, Hyperion, Alba and Ondine labels.
