Collin Hansen
Collin Hansen’s pianistic roots lie at the Eastman School of Music in New York, and he also holds a master’s degree from the Sibelius Academy. Since making his successful debut as a solo pianist, he has appeared as a guest soloist with several Finnish and Nordic orchestras, performing Mozart and Beethoven piano concertos as well as piano-orchestral works by Messiaen and Stravinsky. Collin Hansen is a frequent guest at major Finnish music festivals such as the Helsinki Festival, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Jyväskylä Summer, Turku, Kangasniemi and Korsholm Music Festivals. A sought-after lied pianist, he has performed with Jaakko Ryhänen, Jorma Hynninen, Karita Mattila and Margareta Haverinen in all the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Romania and Israel. In his role as a lecturer at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, he has been instrumental in the education of countless young artists. During his tenure he has performed as a pianist at Carnegie Hall in the United States, among other venues, and he has served as pianist for master classes with Birgit Nilsson, Gundula Janovitz, Teresa Berganza, Karita Mattila, Peter Schreier and Tom Krause.
In 2024, the President of the Republic of Finland awarded Collin Hansen the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland for his artistic and pedagogical achievements.
