“Scherzo”

This is chamber music truly at its best! One of the foremost international Finnish stars, guitar player Ismo Eskelinen, performs together with the Kamus quartet. Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco is known for his beautiful guitar music and he also composed music for over 200 Hollywood movies. His senior countryman Mauro Giuliani was himself a guitar virtuoso who defined a new role for the guitar in the context of European music. Beethoven’s stringquartet No 8 op. 59 belongs to the so called ’Razumovski’ quartets where we can hear a russian folk melody entwining in the scherzo part.
