Coffee-concert “Salut d’amour “
Coffee and cake is included in the ticket prize
What would life be without love? “Salut d’amour” was Edvard Elgar’s wedding present for his young beloved fiancé, and one of the gems in classical music. The love Robert Schumann felt for his wife Clara inspired him to write many unforgettable songs. Clara herself was not only a wonderful pianist but also a talented composer. Because of her 200 anniversary we will include some of her best songs in the program. But love does not always end well. One of the legendary love stories in opera literature is the Tristan and Isolde-tragedy. Our famous pianist Paavali Jumppanen will play Franz Liszt’s transcription for piano of “Isolde’s Love Death”. In the Greek Songs by Ravel we are dealing with love and wedding, and finally the concert will climax with latin passion in the “Grande Tango” by Piazzolla.
