Finland – Swedish lyric poetry and beautiful nordic songs by composers Lars-Erik Larsson, Ture Rangström, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Gunnar de Frumerie, Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg, Hugo Alfvén and Leevi Madetoja.

A vocal quartet with will perform the lovely Viennese-style love-songs. The music brims with a sense of fun in its solos, duets and quartets. At the piano we have a pianist duo.

CONCERT 5

”Nordic light”

Saturday Aug 6, St.Olav’s Chapel 7 pm

The nordic light is shimmering in the music by three characteristically very different composers. Grieg served as an inspiration for Carl Nielsen and for our own Jean Sibelius. Pärt is one of the most performed living composers in the world, and his meditative music has become extremely popular among audiences.

Lars-Erik Larsson op.24 ”God in disguise” a lyrical suite for chorus, orchestra, soloists and narrator

God in disguise was composed during the dramatic Spring of 1940, when Sweden’s neighbour countries Norway and Denmark were occupied by German forces. It is one of the most beloved pieces in Swedish art music. The deeply spiritual words by Hjalmar Gullberg and the new romantic, melodious music by Larsson offered peacefulness and comfort of mind to people in a difficult time.
