Marika Hölttä
Coloratura soprano Marika Hölttä is known for her vocal versatility and strong stage presence. Hölttä has achieved competition success with II.prize at the Lappeenranta Song Contest 2019 and II. prize at the international song contest Havet’s Röst in 2018.
Hölttä has sung as a soloist with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guards and Navy orchestras, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, the Saimaa Sinfonietta and the Kymi Sinfonietta. In addition to Finland, Hölttä has given concerts in Estonia and Italy.
Her roles include Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (Webber), The Queen of the Night and Papagena in The Magic Flute (Mozart), Despina in Cosí fan tutte (Mozart), Valencienne in The Merry Widow (Lehár), Liisa in The Northerners (Madetoja), Liisa in Raatteentie (Pulkkis, first performance), Ottone in Villa in Tullia (Vivaldi), Victoria and her Hussar: O Lia San (Abraham), soprano roles in the Finnish National Opera’s mini operas Reininkulta (2020-2022) and Carmen (2023-2024) and Sofia in the school opera Lähde 2021-2023, Princess Adalmina: Adalmina (Autio). Hölttä has also premiered contemporary operas and other modern vocal music.
In spring 2023, Hölttä was part of the Finnish National Opera’s arena tour as the Queen of the Night around Finland’s largest arenas. In May 2020, Hölttä gave a solo concert ‘Välähdyksiä’ together with pianist Tuula Hällström in the Musiikkitalo concert hall, which was live streamed and also broadcast on Yle. Hölttä has also sung on live TV. Marika Hölttä has studied classical singing and musical theatre at the Sibelius Academy and the Theatre Academy.
Hölttä is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the Pro Musica Foundation. Hölttä was the Richard Wagner Cultural Association’s 2017 recipient of a scholarship and the Päivi and Paavo Lipponen Foundation’s 2021 Opera Soloist of the Year. In addition, Hölttä was nominated for the 2018 Radio Classic Tempo Young Singer of the Year Award.
