Júlia Pérez Arquillo
Spanish soprano Júlia Pérez Arquillo recently graduated with an opera master’s degree from the Sibelius Academy opera training programme. Arquillo is proud to have been chosen as one of the promising singers to have her studies supported by the Selim Eskelin Foundation 2021–24. Prior to her studies at the Sibelius Academy, the soprano graduated from Stockholm University College of Opera with MA in Opera Vocal Performance. In the Summer Season 2024 Arquillo will join the chorus at the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
In 2023 she made her debut as Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea at the Sibelius Academy, and as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Saluzzo Opera Academy. Her other roles include Lucy (The Telephone), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Gilda (Rigoletto) and Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Despina (Cosí fan tutte) and Lisetta (La Gazzetta) in a SibA production, for which she received good reviews (“... Júlia Arquillo sang with charming timbre and smooth colorature…” (Jan Granberg HBL). Among her most recent concerts, it is worth mentioning the soprano solo in Tippet’s oratorio A Child of Our Time at the Helsinki Music Center under the baton of Nils Schweckendiek, as well as the soprano part in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at the German Church in Helsinki under the baton of Mateusz Gwizdałła.
