Earthly Angels
The ensemble Earthly Angels was founded in 2016 in connection with the doctoral studies of soprano Kajsa Dahlbäck. Their first recording was awarded Record of the Year 2018 by the Finnish broadcasting company (YLE). The CD presents 15th century Italian monastery music. The ensemble hosts first line Finnish baroque players as well as international guest artists. The second recording “La Rêveuse” received critical acclaim, and the third recording will be released in 2023. In January 2023 the ensemble performed their first stage production “Passion”, where old monastery music is combined with contemporary music by composer Olli Virtaperko. In their work, the ensemble combines intense connection of physical movement, text and music, and strives for finding interesting new aspects of presenting modern music to the audiences.
