Finnish soprano Aurora Marthens was born 1992 in Espoo, Finland. She studied singing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and in Berlin with Elisabeth Werres, and is one of the stars of her generation in Finland. Together with her pianist Elias Miettinen she won 1. prize in the duo competition Helsinki Lied in 2015. She also won the Mustakallio national singing competition in Savonlinna 2017 and got 3. prize in the national competition in Lappeenranta. She was a semifinalist in the Glyndebourne Opera Cup-competition 2018.
Aurora Marthens has performed with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Jyväskylä Sinfonietta. Her concert repertory includes a.o Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Mozart’s Requiem. She did her operatic debut 2018 in the title role of Donizetti’s rarely performed opera ”Rita”. Internationally she has performed at the Kurt Weill Hall in Carnegie Hall N.Y as one of the soloists in the “Young Talents” concert series 2014. She has also performed with Orquesta y Coro Nacional in Madrid under Miguel Hart-Bedoyas in the role of Solveig in Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt 2019.
Upcoming engagements in 2020 include the role of Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s opera Suor Angelica in Berlin under maestro Kirill Petrenko, Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate with the Helsinki Philarmonic orchestra under Jane Glover, and Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen at the Savonlinna Opera Festival under Stephan Zilias.
